How are moisturizers made?

Moisturizers are made when water or water-based ingredients (like aloe vera) are mixed with oils and butters. Usually, oils and water don't mix, so an emulsifier is used.  An emulsifier is a waxy substance (ours is derived from olives) that binds water and oils. Emulsifiers are protective and nourishing for your skin too, so they are an ingredient that offers us double benefits. 

All these ingredients are heated separately and then combined together. the mixture is cooled and periodically mixed. Lastly once the moisturiser has reached room temperature, the heat sensitive ingredients can be added. These are our preservative, essential oils and plant extracts.
